Insolvency Insider provides the following analysis of the 51 insolvency filings highlighted in Q2 2021:

• Real estate led all industries with 10 filings mentioned, followed by construction, financial services, food and accommodation, manufacturing, oil and gas, and transportation with 3 filings each. 
• 21 filings mentioned were in Ontario, followed by 14 in Alberta and 5 in Quebec. 
• 6 CCAA filings were mentioned (including one that occurred in Q1). EY had 2 appointments as monitor and Deloitte, FTI, MNP and Raymond Chabot each had one appointment. 
• Six different law firms were engaged as company counsel in these CCAA proceedings: Bennett Jones, Dentons, McCarthy Tétrault, Miller Thomson, MLT Aikins and Osler.
